Troopers will also run 2025 Boston Marathon for Cops for Kids with Cancer

In 2024, two Rhode Island State Troopers, Major Peter Cambio and Lieutenant Derek Melfi, ran the 128th Boston Marathon to benefit Cops for Kids with Cancer, raising more than $18,000. Earlier this week, they presented a $5,500 check to the St. Pierre family in support of their 7-month-old son, Samual St. Pierre of Cranston.

Also in attendance were retired Lieutenant Kevin Calnan (ret.) of the Massachusetts State Police, along with Trooper Darnell Sherrill and Trooper Daniel Fanous, who will represent the 2025 RISP Boston Marathon Team.

“I am proud of our troopers for participating in such an important cause and supporting local families during these challenging times,” said Colonel Darnell S. Weaver, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the Rhode Island Department of Public Safety. “The Rhode Island State Police is honored to stand with the St. Pierre family, and we will continue to keep Samual and his loved ones in our thoughts as he continues his fight.”

The 2025 RISP Boston Marathon Team will also run in support of Cops for Kids with Cancer. Donations in support of their run can be made here.
