401Gives Tops $4 Million Raised, but Record-Setting Year isn’t Done Yet

Rhode Islanders’ generosity grows beyond expectations, new highs to be set across the board
Providence, R.I. (April 2, 2025) – 401Gives has topped $4 million raised as of 11:28 a.m. today, but the record-breaking year isn’t done yet as the effort continues until 6 p.m.
“We’ve surpassed our goal and are still raising the bar,” said Cortney Nicolato, United Way’s president and CEO. “Rhode Islanders have come out in full force to support their local nonprofits and to get behind the causes that are important to them. We go into every 401Gives with extreme optimism, and right now we’re seeing a level of giving that’s simply incredible. I can’t wait to see where we finish later today.”
This year’s 401Gives is tracking more than $1.14 million ahead of its 2024 pace, and already a new high for the total number of donations has been set with 26,291 and counting. More than 90 different organizations have raised $10,000 or more, and 173 nonprofits have topped $5,000 raised. A total of 640 Rhode Island-based nonprofits are actively raising funds for their work.
401Gives kicked off at 6 a.m. on April 1 and had reached $1 million raised just a few hours later. Donation to nonprofits continued to flow in throughout Tuesday, and 401Gives topped $3 million by mid-evening.
Rhode Islanders can continue to give to their favorite nonprofits on the 401Gives site through 6 p.m. on April 2. Using the search bar at the top of the page, donors can find organizations based on their cause or by community.
