Rhode Island State Police and Providence Police will meet this Sunday in the grand finale of Light & Sirens International 14th Annual Basketball Tournament
Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic – The teams that represent the Rhode Island State Police and the Providence Police will be facing each other this Sunday in the last game of this year’s XIV Annual Basketball Tournament organized by the American organization “Lights & Sirens International, with the support of another non-profit organization, Latino Public Radio (LPR), at the Fabio Rafael González Sports Center in Puerto Plata.
The events is organized by a non-profit organization from United States, Lights & Sirens International. This basketball tournament& Humanitarian trip “Vacation with a Purpose” has been held in the Dominican Republic for 14 years, with a special objective, in addition to sharing in the basketball environment, the visitors to the Dominican Republic in the 14 uninterrupted years coming to Dominican Republic, they carry out various activities, including community aid, motivational talks for young people, and sharing with professionals from the National Police, specifically located in the city of Puerto Plata.
Within the activities of the day the officers and participates from the United States, includes stops in several communities bringing aid to institutions that protect low-income children residing in different communities of the Dominican Republic. The officers also shared with the police, firefighters, and military of Dominican Republic, an atmosphere of camaraderie, exchanging both cultures and customs of the two nations. The main objective of this event each year is to be able to contribute and help children and young people with very limited resources located specifically in the northern part of the Dominican Republic.
