Governor McKee Nominates Lauren A. Burgess to the Quonset Development Corporation’s Board
PROVIDENCE, RI – Today, Governor Dan McKee announced the nomination of Lauren Burgess to serve on the Quonset Development Corporation’s board of directors.
“With over 14,000 jobs at more than 239 companies, Quonset is the leading engine of job creation and economic development in Rhode Island,” said Governor Dan McKee. “Lauren’s extensive backgrounds in government relations, and crafting strategies to leverage policy on all levels make her a valuable asset to continue Quonset’s economic momentum.”
Lauren A. Burgess, is the current Executive Director of Legislative and Government Relations at the University of Rhode Island where she oversees federal, state, and community affairs. In her role, she develops advocacy strategies to advance the state’s public flagship research university at the national and local levels, working closely with URI President Marc B. Parlange, elected officials, and external stakeholders.
Previously, Burgess worked as the Assistant Director of Government Relations for the American Veterinary Medical Association and was a lobbyist with Lewis-Burke Associates, LLC, representing higher-education and non-profit organizations in Washington, D.C.
Before that, Burgess worked as an aide for Congressman Jim Langevin, a staffer on Senator Sheldon Whitehouse’s 2012 U.S. Senate Campaign, and as a legal policy clerk for Governor Lincoln Chaffee’s Office of the Executive Legal Counsel. She is a founding member of the State Society of Rhode Island, a graduate of Roger Williams University School of Law, and a licensed member of the New York Bar.

This is an exciting opportunity, and I look forward to supporting and maintaining the incredible momentum at Quonset that is driving economic growth for families in Rhode Island,” said Burgess, the newest nominee to the QDC Board.
The Quonset Development Corporation is a quasi-state agency responsible for the development and management of the Quonset Business Park.
Burgess’s name has been sent to the Rhode Island Senate for advice and consent.
