Rep. Magaziner to Announce Federal Funding for East Greenwich Waterfront Improvements
EAST GREENWICH, R.I. — On Monday, March 25, 2024, at 10:30 am, U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02) will hold a tour of the East Greenwich waterfront celebrating $963,000 in federal funding for a planned waterfront development project to improve shoreline accessibility.
This community project includes three main elements: (1) Public right-of-way feasibility study and associated right-of-way improvements; (2) Shoreline resiliency and environmental protection upgrades, and the removal of fuel tanks and Transfer Station infrastructure; and (3) the development of a shoreline access path, shelter and accessible dock platform as a Phase 1 element of a much larger shoreline access network.
These improvements will increase waterfront access for recreational opportunities in the Narragansett Bay for residents and visitors alike, benefitting long-time small businesses, marinas, and commercial fishing operations in East Greenwich, along with residents from across Rhode Island who enjoy our shoreline.
This federal funding, secured by Rep. Magaziner, is among 15 community project grants for Rhode Island projects in the FY 2024 federal budget.
