City of Pawtucket Sees Impact of “Small Business Relief Grant Program”
Funds Still Available!
Pawtucket, RI – The City of Pawtucket is still accepting applications for the Small Business Relief Grant Program aimed at supporting local businesses affected by the economic challenges of recent years. Made possible through the American Rescue Plan Act funds, this initiative provides essential assistance to small businesses.
Mayor Donald R. Grebien, Director of Commerce, Sandra Cano, and Economic Development Specialist, Sandra Mazo, have visited local businesses that have received the grant, to learn about how the funds have assisted their business.
“Over the past few weeks, I, along with our dedicated Commerce Department, have had the privilege of visiting several outstanding businesses in our community to present them with their grant checks,” said Mayor Donald R. Grebien “These visits were not only about presenting checks but also about listening to the concerns of our local business owners, and how this grant has helped them. It was inspiring to hear their stories and understand how these grants will help them continue to thrive.”
Sandra Cano, Director of Commerce for the City of Pawtucket, expressed her enthusiasm for the program, stating, “The Small Business Relief Grant Program underscores our commitment to supporting the resilience and vitality of Pawtucket’s small business community. These grants will provide critical assistance to local enterprises as they navigate challenges and pursue opportunities for growth and success.”
Business visits have included Papi’s Refresco’s, Kyleen Designs, Zabinski Music Studio, and Cardinal XI LLC dba Sin Alley Tattoo. Each business has received $20,000 from the program. Other awardees include 10 Rocks Lounge and Tapas, MACS Boutique Cork Jewelry & Accessories, Dennis Printing Co., Gold International Machinery Corp, Laservall North America, Flavors Restaurant, and Smug Brewing Company.
“Receiving the small business grant from the city of Pawtucket was life-changing!” said Kyleen Moraton, owner of Kyleen’s Designs. “I am now in the process of moving to a bigger studio space where I will be able to expand my business by offering classes and workshops.”
“We at Sin Alley Tattoo look forward to many more years of growth and success in the City of Pawtucket,” said Billy Fusudo, owner of Sin Alley.
Applications are still open and grants are being awarded on a rolling basis! Small businesses in Pawtucket that have experienced a decrease in net or gross revenue from 2019 to 2022 are encouraged to apply for this program. Eligible applicants must provide documentation including three consecutive tax returns (from 2020 to 2022), a W-9 form, current payroll records, state registration or a certificate of good standing with the City, a valid photo ID, and a picture of the storefront.
Businesses with 25 employees or less, which can demonstrate evidence of net or gross revenue loss, are eligible to receive grants of up to $20,000. To qualify, businesses must have been established prior to March 3, 2021. Minority and women-owned business enterprises are strongly encouraged to apply.
