CCRI to Announce Partnership with Building Futures to Launch New Pre-Apprenticeship Training
Thursday afternoon in celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI), in partnership with Building Futures Rhode Island (BFRI), is hosting a press conference with Governor Dan McKee, Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi, and labor leaders to announce the launch of a new pre-apprenticeship readiness training program for recent high school graduates and young adults.
With the support of a $250,000 workforce investment from RIDLT, the college will begin training future apprentices in January through the Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3), a comprehensive pre-apprenticeship curriculum developed by the North American Building Trades Union (NABTU) that delivers an industry-recognized credential. The 160-hour program is designed to increase the number of candidates for apprenticeships, especially women, veterans, and communities of color, across all trades by providing them with a deeper understanding of the many careers in the construction and building trades, strengthening workforce readiness across Rhode Island’s construction and trades industries.
