Today Marks 25 Years of Jennifer Rivera’s Murder, May 21, 2000

A 15 year old girl, Jennifer Rivera was set to testify against the now-convicted murderer who killed her friend and neighbor Hector Feliciano.

The day before she was to testify, Jennifer was skipping rope outside of her Congress Street home when she was shot and killed.

Since Jennifer’s death, the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office created a witness protection program to offer support and protection for those who offer information to help solve crimes. The Jennifer Rivera Memorial Park, located just several blocks from her old home, was created in her memory.
