New store located in Trolley Barn Plaza marks the first SONIC Drive-In to open in Cranston and the third in Rhode Island

Cranston, RI – Drive-In today announced it will host the grand opening of its Cranston Drive-In located at 777 Cranston Street on Friday, May 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The first 50 people in line beginning at 11:00 a.m. who are registered on the SONIC App will receive a free Combo Meal coupon, no purchase necessary.*
At noon, local Rhode Island SONIC franchisees Chris Stack and Dustin DeBoer, alongside Mayor of Cranston Kenneth Hopkins and local dignitaries, will host the official ribbon cutting. Following the ribbon cutting, guests are invited to enjoy live music and SONIC-branded merchandise giveaways.
On grand opening day, the new restaurant will serve guests from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and then it will adjust to its usual operating hours from 8 a.m. to midnight seven days a week following. Guests can enjoy SONIC’s expansive menu by ordering through the restaurant’s two drive-thru lanes or nine drive-in stalls. Guests can also take advantage of the SONIC App for special rewards and mobile ordering. Cranston SONIC guests can place an order online or through the SONIC App for contactless ordering and payment, as well as to take advantage of the monthly offers and discounts.
Bringing more than 80 job opportunities for the local community, the new restaurant, which originally opened its doors on May 6, marks DeBoer and Stack’s third SONIC location, with two existing locations in Warwick, Rhode Island, and Somerset, Massachusetts. The pair’s business partnership began over 10 years ago when Stack approached DeBoer, a former general manager for a SONIC in Connecticut, with the intent to develop in the area. Following a successful opening in Somerset, the two opened a SONIC in Warwick in 2018.
“As Rhode Island residents with deep ties to this brand, we’re thrilled to bring SONIC’s craveable and iconic menu to the Cranston community,” said DeBoer. “We’re very passionate about offering our guests not only great food, but also a great customer experience. We can’t wait to see everyone on the big day and look forward to serving the Cranston community for years to come!”
With hundreds of thousands of craveable flavors and drink combinations, including limeades, burgers, corn dogs and more, SONIC’s expansive, award-winning menu offers made-to-order and customizable breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack options to delight the whole family.
SONIC is also committed to supporting public schools by donating a portion of proceeds from every drink, slush, and shake purchase to the SONIC Foundation, which supports local public education.** Since 2009, the SONIC Limeades for Learning initiative has raised more than $30 million for funding local classrooms, becoming one of the most extensive programs in the U.S. to support public education.
