PASCOAG, RI — On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. ET, U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02) will join Rhode Island health care workers and leaders at WellOne Health Center in Pascoag to discuss the urgent need to include critical federal health care funding as part of the federal budget.

The visit comes as the government shutdown enters its 22nd day, making it the third-longest government shutdown in American history.

Magaziner has repeatedly called on the Republican-controlled Congress and the White House to take immediate action to make health care more affordable as part of any government funding agreement. Magaziner is calling for the extension of critical Affordable Care Act tax credits set to expire at the end of this year and bringing attention to nearly $1 trillion in funding cuts to Medicaid passed by Republicans in July. Despite all this, Speaker Mike Johnson has not held a vote in the House of Representatives since September 19.

During the visit, Rep. Magaziner and local leaders will discuss how the health care affordability crisis is impacting Rhode Island’s health care system, providers, and patients already struggling with high insurance premiums and prescription drug costs. Magaziner will highlight his commitment to reopening the government and passing a budget that protects affordable health care for Rhode Islanders.
