City of Pawtucket DPW Crews Take to the Streets to Address Winter Road Damage
Pawtucket, RI – The City of Pawtucket continues to prioritize safe and reliable roadways for residents, businesses, and visitors, investing $25 million in street improvements across the city over the last ten years. While significant progress has been made, this winter’s severe weather, including heavy snowfall and the recent blizzard, has taken a toll on local roads.
Fluctuating temperatures, repeated freeze-and-thaw cycles, and prolonged snow and ice accumulation can quickly deteriorate pavement, creating potholes and other roadway hazards. Public Works crews are actively assessing conditions citywide and responding as quickly as possible to repair damage and ensure streets remain safe and passable.
“The City of Pawtucket has made substantial investments in our infrastructure because safe roads are essential to quality of life and economic growth,” said Mayor Donald R. Grebien. “This winter has been particularly challenging, and we know that potholes and road damage can be frustrating for our residents. Please know that our crews are out every day addressing issues as quickly as conditions allow. We remain fully committed to maintaining safe streets and continuing to invest in the infrastructure improvements our community deserves.”
The City thanks residents for their patience and cooperation as repair efforts continue. Temporary repairs are being made where necessary, with more permanent solutions scheduled as weather conditions improve.
Residents who wish to report a pothole or roadway concern are encouraged to contact the Department of Public Works at 401.728.0500, ext. 233, or email dpw@pawtucketri.gov.
