AG Neronha: “Xay will join the fight against the chaos of the Trump Administration and never back down from the challenges Rhode Island faces.”

Providence, RI (March 24, 2026) — Today, in a new video, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Neronha endorsed Xay Khamsyvoravong for Lieutenant Governor.

“I’m endorsing Xay for Lieutenant Governor, because we need a new generation of leaders who will fight for Rhode Island families and never back down from the challenges Rhode Island faces,” said Attorney General Neronha. “I’ve known Xay a long time and seen him deliver. When
Newport Hospital’s Birthing Center was slated for closure. I saw Xay organize and lead the fight to keep it open. That’s the kind of leadership Rhode Island needs.”

“Attorney General Neronha is fighting tirelessly to protect our community at both the state and federal levels. His commitment to tackling Rhode Island’s healthcare crisis and calling the powerful to account is a legacy I am dedicated to building upon. I am honored he sees me as a
leader to continue this fight,” said Xay Khamsyvoravong.

Attorney General Peter F. Neronha is a proud lifelong Rhode Islander. Elected in 2018, he has served two terms as Rhode Island’s Attorney General. As the state’s top legal official, he has led an office that protects public safety, health care, the natural environment, and consumers. As the Attorney General, he has stood up to powerful interests when Rhode Islanders are threatened, including, most recently, harmful actions of the Trump administration.

Attorney General Neronha has served as a state and federal prosecutor for 30 years and was the United States Attorney for the District of Rhode Island from 2009 to 2017, appointed by President Barack Obama.

This endorsement marks the first official support for a lieutenant gubernatorial candidate from one of the state’s incumbent general officers this year. To stay up to date with Xay’s campaign, follow @XayForRI (Instagram) or @XayForRI (X/Twitter) and sign up for Xay’s weekly
