Foulkes Opposes Proposed Quonset Sludge Plant, Calls for Greater Transparency

Providence, RI — Helena Buonanno Foulkes issued the following statement opposing the proposed sewage sludge processing plant in Quonset:

“I’m strongly against the proposed sludge plant in Quonset. It presents significant public health and environmental safety concerns for residents in North Kingstown and surrounding communities. Quonset was created with special zoning so the state could move quickly on the right projects and create good jobs, and the secrecy surrounding this proposed plant violates that trust,” said Helena. “I am calling for a transparent process that meaningfully engages both residents and businesses in these communities.”
