“Get Things Done” highlights Governor McKee’s record of standing up to Donald Trump to protect lower energy costs, good-paying union jobs, and clean power for 200,000 Rhode Island homes

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The McKee for Governor campaign today launched its newest television ad, “Get Things Done.” The 30-second spot highlights how Governor Dan McKee took on Donald Trump’s “idiocy” to defend the development of Revolution Wind – delivering clean energy that lowers families’ utility bills, good-paying union jobs, and power for 200,000 homes. “Get Things Done” will run statewide across broadcast and digital platforms alongside “The Merger” beginning today.

In August 2025, the Trump administration issued a stop-work order halting construction when Revolution Wind, a 704-megawatt project roughly 15 miles off the coast, was roughly 80 percent complete. But Governor McKee fought back against the administration’s attempt to block the project – pressing the White House directly and championing the legal challenge that allowed the project to restart and move forward.

Revolution Wind began delivering power to the regional grid in March 2026 and will be fully operational by the end of the year, generating enough clean energy to power 200,000 Rhode Island homes, lowering energy costs for working families, and creating hundreds of good-paying union jobs.

While Governor McKee was standing up to Donald Trump to protect Rhode Island jobs and clean energy, Helena Foulkes has a troubling pattern of ties to MAGA Republicans, including personal donations to Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, and has stayed silent when it comes to standing up to Trump.

“At the end of the day. Dan McKee is focused on fighting Donald Trump, standing up for good-paying union jobs and delivering real results for Rhode Islanders,” said McKee campaign spokesperson Sophie Mestas. “The contrast in this race could not be clearer: a Governor who holds the line against Trump and delivers for working people, or Helena Foulkes, who funds MAGA Republicans and stays silent against Trump. Rhode Islanders know exactly who’s fighting for them.”

TRANSCRIPT:

GOVERNOR MCKEE: I’m Governor Dan McKee.

Some people say I’m not the most polished Governor…but let me tell you why!

Watch out!

Revolution Wind is a clean energy project that will save Rhode Island families money on their utility bills…

Provide power to 200,000 homes…

And create good-paying union jobs for Rhode Islanders.

Donald Trump tried to stop it…

DONALD TRUIMP: “We don’t allow windmills. We’re not allowing any windmills to go up.”

GOVERNOR MCKEE: But we fought against his idiocy and won.

So I may not look polished… but this is what it looks like to get things done!
