Vic Mellor Tours Edesia Facility, Praises Rhode Island Workers Making a Global Impact Against Childhood Malnutrition
Republican Candidate for Congress Highlights Manufacturing Excellence and Pledges to work to bring more of the $17 trillion promised to the US to Rhode Island
NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. – Today, Vic Mellor, Republican candidate for Congress from Rhode Island’s 2nd Congressional District, visited Edesia, an innovative child nutrition manufacturing company located in Quonset Industrial Park.
Edesia manufactures highly enriched and nutritious ready-to-use foods for children and mothers that can be eaten at home. These products help alleviate and remediate severe malnutrition for children and their mothers around the world. Their most widely known product is Plumpy’Nut, a ready-to-use therapeutic food made from milk powder and peanuts that children love and that has saved countless young lives.
Mellor took a tour of the plant and was impressed by the state-of-the-art equipment, efficient processes, and dedicated people working there.

With an improved economy and more private investment in manufacturing, our state can grow the good-paying jobs that our young people need to have successful and financially secure adult lives. I am going to work hard to bring that investment to Rhode Island.”
