PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Today, North Kingstown Town Council President Greg Mancini announced his endorsement of Governor Dan McKee for his reelection campaign.

“When asked, Governor McKee came to North Kingstown Town Council meetings, not once, but twice. While there, he listened to residents’ concerns, for more than three hours in one meeting, and he acted decisively in the community’s best interests. The citizens of North Kingstown owe him a deep debt of gratitude.” said North Kingstown Town Council President Greg Mancini. “I have never seen a governor go to a municipal town council meeting in any community except Governor McKee. Throughout his career, he has shown up, listened, and delivered results. Rhode Island is better because of Governor Dan McKee.  I’m proud to endorse him for re-election.”

Governor McKee came to multiple town council meetings and followed up in writing to town leadership stating that residents deserved “clear, accessible information and meaningful engagement” regarding events within their municipal borders. He also pledged to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the community in ensuring that whatever happens in North Kingstown and elsewhere is done in an open and transparent manner.

As a result of his involvement in North Kingstown, Quonset revised their bylaws to increase their notice, transparency, and local public input obligations as well as require a 2/3’s majority board vote for any proposed project that has hazardous material, needs a special use permit, or approval from the state fire Marshall’s office. In addition, the governor directed DEM to increase their monitoring of possible air pollution regulations in commercial areas close to residential areas and schools. In fact, because of the governor’s directive, a company was recently cited in the North Kingstown area for air pollution regulation violations.

Governor McKee is running for re-election to keep putting money back in families’ pockets and standing up to Donald Trump’s efforts to strip away Rhode Islanders’ health care, food assistance, and jobs. Since taking office, he has created over 37,000 private sector jobs and kept Rhode Island building despite national economic uncertainty.

The endorsement adds to the growing coalition supporting Governor McKee, including LIUNA, the Rhode Island Building & Construction Trades Council, RISAFF, RI Constables, IUPAT Local 195, IUEC Local 39, OPCMIA Local 40, RI Council 94 AFSCME, Teamsters Local 251, UFCW Local 328, UNAP, the Rhode Island Federation of Teachers and Health Professionals, NEA Rhode Island, Planned Parenthood Votes! Rhode Island, Secretary of State Gregg Amore, General Treasurer James A. Diossa, the North Providence, East Providence, and Pawtucket Democratic Committees, and numerous municipal leaders from across the state.
