Magaziner Statement on Ongoing Hospital Staffing Shortage
PROVIDENCE, RI- General Treasurer and gubernatorial candidate Seth Magaziner today issued the following statement regarding the measures Governor McKee took today to address the hospital staffing shortage:
“Yesterday, I proposed a plan to address the staffing crisis in Rhode Island emergency rooms. Today, Governor McKee adopted some of my suggestions, specifically to allow out-of-state healthcare workers to care for patients in Rhode Island and expedite the licensing requirements for CNAs. However, those measures are only part of the response and the state should immediately use federal money to give bonuses to nurses, CNAs and other healthcare workers, and activate the National Guard immediately to assist with administrative and technical work, freeing up nurses to care for patients.”
