Statement on Breeze Airways Unionization Effort from Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos

PROVIDENCE, RI – Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos today issued the following statement on the vote by Breeze Airways pilots to unionize:

“I welcome Breeze Airways as they make Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport a new hub for their airline, but doing business in our state means recognizing the rights of workers to bargain collectively. Rhode Island upholds the right to unionize as a core value of both our culture and our economy. I look forward to speaking with Breeze leadership in the coming days to ensure that the workers they plan to hire in Rhode Island will be able to organize freely.”
