Amo Condemns House Republicans for Refusing to End Trump’s Reckless War in Iran
Washington, DC – Vice Ranking Member Gabe Amo (D-RI) issued the following statement after House Republicans blocked efforts to end Donald Trump’s war of choice in Iran:
“House Republicans just greenlit Trump’s reckless march toward another forever war that is wasting billions of your taxpayer dollars and priceless American lives with no clear objective, no exit strategy, and no day after plan in the Middle East.
We cannot allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon. And our Constitution is clear that Congress decides when our nation goes to war. Instead of defending that duty, Congressional Republicans are choosing blind loyalty to Trump over their oath.
They are putting our service members and Americans stranded abroad in harm’s way. We should be reining in Trump, not letting him reign as a king.”

Congressman Amo spoke in support of H.Con.Res.38, during debate on the House Floor.
Congressman Amo is a co-sponsor of H.Con.Res.38 and H.Con.Res.40, two war powers resolutions that would block the future use of military force against Iran without Congressional approval.
