Central Falls Foundation Celebrates Ribbon Cutting of Fully Rehabilitated Property at 42 Washington Street
Central Falls, RI — March 30, 2026 — The Central Falls Foundation, in partnership with local and state leaders, today celebrated the ribbon cutting of a fully rehabilitated three-family home located at 42 Washington Street — a project that reflects a continued commitment to expanding access to safe, high-quality, and affordable housing in the City of Central Falls.
Originally acquired through receivership in early 2024, the property was once a symbol of neglect and disinvestment. Today, following a $1.67 million investment, it stands as a revitalized asset that will provide stable housing for local families and contribute to the strengthening of the surrounding neighborhood.
“This project represents what is possible when we come together with a shared vision for our community,” said Bridgette Duquette, CEO of the Central Falls Foundation. “We are not just restoring buildings — we are restoring dignity, opportunity, and hope for families in Central Falls.”

One of the future residents, Mirna Ramírez, shared what this moment means for her family:

“Today, finally, my daughter with special needs and my family will have a beautiful place where we can continue our lives. Thank you to the Central Falls Foundation for making the dream of having a dignified home for our family a reality.”
The comprehensive rehabilitation effort included:
Structural stabilization
Installation of new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
Energy-efficient upgrades
Full interior modernization
Exterior restoration preserving the building’s historic character
The property includes three fully independent units, each with three bedrooms and a private entrance, enhancing both security and long-term stability for resident families.

The project was made possible through strong collaboration among public and private partners, including the City of Central Falls, Rhode Island Housing and Beacon Bank.
Among those recognized for their leadership and support of the rehabilitation efforts were Mayor Maria Rivera, Carol Ventura, Deb Goddard and Bárbara Papitto, whose contributions were instrumental in bringing the project to completion.
The newly rehabilitated property will now welcome families seeking safe, stable housing — reinforcing the Central Falls Foundation’s mission to create pathways to opportunity and build a more equitable future for all residents.
