PROVIDENCE, RI – Today, the City of Providence announced it will partner with Vision Government Solutions Inc. to complete its state-mandated revaluation program. The reassessment project, which is required every three years by state law, includes a thorough exterior analysis and inspection of properties to establish market value and ensure that all current Tax Assessor’s Office information is updated and accurate.

“The statistical revaluation process is critical for ensuring that all properties continue to be properly and fairly assessed,” said Tax Assessor Janesse Muscatelli. “Regularly assessing properties within the city ensures that property taxes are collected equitably, verifies that each property owner is not over or under paying their fair share, and ensures the city continues to collect the necessary funding to provide the high-quality services our neighbors and local businesses all deserve.”

It is important to note that this is a statistical revaluation, meaning that not all properties will be visited by data collectors. Starting this month, data collectors will begin visiting specific properties to record exterior building measurements and conduct interior inspections if necessary. This reassessment project will establish the market value of properties as of December 31, 2024, with resulting adjustments reflected in the tax bills issued in the summer of 2025.

To facilitate smooth operations, data collectors will carry a letter of identification from the Assessor’s Office, photo ID badge and their cars will be registered with the Providence Police Department. All property owners and tenants are respectfully requested to cooperate with data collectors to ensure accurate information is used in the revaluation process.

Property owners who have questions about the revaluation process can contact the Assessor’s Office Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at (401) 680-5229 or email the office at assessors@providenceri.gov.

The Mayor’s Center for City Services will issue notifications to alert residents of revaluation in their neighborhoods through the PVD311 system and on the City’s homepage, providenceri.gov, throughout the year. Residents can also contact the Mayor’s Center for City Services by dialing 3-1-1.
