An indictment, information, or complaint is merely an allegation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Attorney General Peter F. Neronha today announced that a Cranston man has been charged in Providence County Superior Court with one count of second-degree child molestation.

On January 12, 2024, the Office of the Attorney General charged Christopher Jones (age 50) by way of secret criminal information, with one count of second-degree child molestation. On January 18, 2024, the defendant was arrested by Cranston Police and arraigned in Providence County Superior Court where the secret information was unsealed.

As alleged in the information, on a day or date between April 8, 2003, and April 8, 2006, the defendant sexually assaulted a victim under the age of 14 years old.

The Cranston Police Department conducted the investigation.

The defendant is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on March 5, 2024
