CRANSTON, RI – The Cranston Police Department has charged Tina Monjloh, age 26, of Providence, Rhode Island, in connection with a carjacking that occurred on February 4, 2026, at approximately 11:17 p.m. in the area of Dyer Avenue and Farmington Avenue. Officers were initially dispatched to the area for a well-being check after reports of an intoxicated female walking in and out of traffic near 355 Dyer Avenue. A short time later, the victim, a 56-year-old Cranston resident, reported that her black 2019 Toyota Highlander had been forcibly taken from her following an assault.

According to the investigation, the victim was driving north on Dyer Avenue when a female suspect walked into the roadway and stopped directly in front of her vehicle. The suspect began striking the hood of the vehicle and yelling at the victim. When the victim exited her vehicle, a physical altercation ensued. The suspect allegedly struck the victim and threw her to the ground before entering the victim’s vehicle and fleeing the scene.

The victim sustained injuries to her head and rib area and was transported by the Cranston Fire Department to Rhode Island Hospital for evaluation. She later provided a written statement and indicated she wished to pursue charges.

Shortly after the incident, the stolen vehicle was involved in a crash in Johnston, including a collision with a Johnston Police cruiser. Monjloh was taken into custody by the Johnston Police Department on February 5, 2026, and charged with Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle.

Through continued investigation, including review of surveillance footage obtained from a nearby business and body-worn camera footage from Johnston Police officers, detectives were able to confirm Monjloh as the individual responsible for the carjacking.

On March 2, 2026, Monjloh was arraigned in Third Division District Court on the Cranston robbery charge. Bail on the Cranston charge was set at $35,000 with surety. She was ordered held without bail for violating the conditions of her bail on the Johnston charge.
