Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade to Perform Ceremonial Coin Toss Tonight
The Champ will take midfield before Rhode Island FC vs. Phoenix Rising FC
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (April 26, 2024) – Tonight, Providence native and former World Boxing Organization (WBO) Middleweight Champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade will take part in the ceremonial pre-match coin toss before Rhode Island FC takes on defending USL Championship title winners Phoenix Rising FC at 7:30 p.m. at Beirne Stadium. For The Champ, the trip to midfield will mark his first honorary coin toss before a professional soccer match.
A fighter since the age of six, Boo Boo held the WBO middleweight title from October 20, 2018 to August 26, 2022 before moving up to super middleweight. The Champ also held the World Boxing Association (WBA) super welterweight title for seven months in 2017 before moving up to middleweight. A quick left-hander with a devastating right, Boo Boo won the United States amateur titles in 2005 and 2006. Boo Boo also won the 2006 and 2007 national Golden Gloves titles. The Southpaw had his first major international success in 2007, winning the silver medal in the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The Ocean State native has won 32 of his 33 professional fights, including 19 by knockout.
