Governor McKee to Sign Bill Banning the Sale of Assault Weapons

PROVIDENCE, RI — Today, Governor Dan McKee signed legislation into law that bans the sale of certain military-style weapons in Rhode Island.
The Governor was joined by bill sponsor Senator Louis DiPalma (2025-S 0359A) as well as Representative Jason Knight, General Officers, General Assembly Leaders, and gun safety advocates.
This bill is the latest piece of gun safety legislation Governor McKee and the Rhode Island General Assembly have worked together to sign to keep communities safer and limit these weapons in Rhode Island.
