Homicide Arraignment of Suspect in Pawtucket’s Carnation Street shooting
On 1/30/22, the Pawtucket Police Major Crime Unit Detectives began an investigation into the shooting death of Jovani Velez that occurred on Carnation St.
On 4/21/22, after an extensive investigation, and with the assistance of the Attorney General’s Office, an arrest warrant was obtained for Elijah Soto (18) of Cato Ave, Pawtucket, RI, for his involvement in the homicide.
On 5/2/22, Mr. Soto was brought into Providence District Court and arraigned on the following charges:
Murder-1st Degree
Conspiracy
Discharge of a Firearm While Committing a Crime of Violence
Carrying Pistol or Revolver without a License
Mr. Soto was held without bail and remanded to the Adult Correctional Institute (ACI).
