Magaziner Announces Funding for Warwick Police
WARWICK, R.I. — Today, U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02) joined Warwick Mayor Frank Picozzi, Major Robert Hart of the Warwick Police Department, and other local leaders to announce $800,000 in federal funding he secured to help the Warwick Police Department purchase new portable radios and radio scanners.

“When Rhode Islanders are in danger, they deserve a swift response. I am pleased to deliver federal funding for the Warwick Police Department to help improve emergency response times and keep Warwick residents safe,” said Magaziner. “I will continue working to bring federal dollars home so our police officers have the tools they need to do their jobs effectively and protect our hometowns.”
“Public safety is my top priority as Mayor, and ensuring our officers have reliable, up-to-date equipment is critical to protecting our residents,” said Mayor Frank Picozzi. “These new radios and scanners will significantly enhance communication in emergency situations. I want to thank Congressman Magaziner for his partnership and for delivering this important federal funding to the City of Warwick.”
“This $800,000 federal investment, championed by Rep. Seth Magaziner, represents a significant step forward in upgrading our aging police communications infrastructure. It will directly improve officer safety, coordination, and service to the people of Warwick. Our ongoing partnership with Congressman Magaziner has delivered meaningful benefits in the past, and we anticipate many more opportunities to collaborate for the good of Warwick in the future,” said Colonel Michael Lima, Chief of Police at the Warwick Police Department.
The funding will support the purchase of modern police radio technology, including 800MHz portable radios, tri-band portable radios, and mobile scanners for the Warwick Police Department. This equipment will replace aging devices and help officers improve emergency response for Warwick residents.
Magaziner worked closely with the Warwick Police Department and local leaders to secure the funding as part of the Commerce, Justice, and Science appropriations bill, which passed the House of Representatives on January 8, 2026, and was later signed into law.
