Mayor Brett Smiley and Governor Dan McKee Celebrate Groundbreaking at Davey Lopes Recreation Center

Renovations at Davey Lopes Recreation Center will modernize facilities, improve safety and expand programming for youth and families
Providence, RI — Mayor Brett P. Smiley was joined by Governor Dan McKee, Councilwoman Mary Kay Harris and Davey Lopes Recreation Center Director Anthony Lindsey to celebrate the groundbreaking of the $8.7 million renovation project to create a Community Learning Center at the at Davey Lopes Recreation Center. The project is part of nearly $22 million in investments across Providence’s recreation centers that include Community Learning Centers at the Elmwood Park Community Center and Joslin Recreation Center and facility improvements at Zuccolo, Igliozzi, Rollins, Kennedy, Rogers and Sackett Recreation Centers.
The renovations at the Davey Lopes Recreation Center will modernize the facility while ensuring long-term accessibility, enhancing safety and improving programming for the community, reflecting the City’s commitment to strengthening youth support, neighborhood infrastructure and community wellbeing.
