Pawtucket, RI – The Pawtucket Redevelopment Agency (PRA) and the City of Pawtucket are pleased to announce that six competitive bids have been formally submitted in response to the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the redevelopment of the Apex property. This includes the former Apex property, former Apex Tire, two vacant lots, and the remaining parcels up to the riverfront, including the former Manning Heffern Funeral Home.  This exciting opportunity represents the next step in the continued transformation of our city and will contribute to the economic development happening throughout Pawtucket.
The receipt of six proposals indicates strong interest in development within the city and highlights its significance as a key redevelopment opportunity for Pawtucket. Located within a rapidly transforming waterfront district, the site stands at the center of unprecedented public and private investment, including major waterfront improvements, the opening of Centreville Bank Stadium, new housing development, and expanding economic activity throughout the surrounding area. Together, these proposals present a range of development concepts and strategies aimed at building on this momentum and transforming the Apex property into a productive, vibrant, and inclusive asset that supports long-term growth and opportunity for the city.
All submitted bids will now be reviewed by a designated Selection Committee, as defined by the PRA, comprised of the following individuals:
·       Mark McLaughlin
·       Tim O’Reilly
·       Jason Pezzullo
·       Chris Crawley
·       Gaeton Kashala
·       Agueda Del Burgo
As part of the evaluation process, the committee will interview all bidders who responded and develop a scoring metric. Following these interviews and a comprehensive review, the committee will identify the proposal that best aligns with the PRA’s long-term goals, community needs, and economic development priorities.
“The level of interest we’ve received is exciting and highlights the tremendous potential of this site and reinforces that Pawtucket is the place to be,” said Mayor Donald R. Grebien of Pawtucket. “The PRA now begins the review process, which is crucial to ensuring that the chosen project provides lasting benefits for the residents, businesses, and neighborhoods of Pawtucket. The Downtown Gateway project is a vital step in the ongoing revitalization of our city and a milestone as we work to build a better Pawtucket for future generations.”
Additional updates will be shared as the evaluation process progresses and the City advances plans that will strengthen downtown, spur economic growth, and maximize the potential of this key waterfront property.
