Red Cross to Sound the Alarm and install free smoke alarms in Central Falls and Pawtucket

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (April 29, 2023) — TODAY, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., American Red Cross volunteers, partners, city officials and community members teamed up to install FREE smoke alarms for local families during a Sound the Alarm event in Central Falls and Pawtucket. Two minutes may be all a person has to safely escape a home fire. Working smoke alarms help save lives. 

The Sound the Alarm kickoff started with remarks from American Red Cross, Susan Roberts, Executive Director, American Red Cross Rhode Island Chapter, David Deloge, Director, Pawtucket and Central Falls Emergency Management, Bob Ferri, Council President, Central Falls and also volunteer training, followed by smoke alarm installations and canvassing at homes where volunteer teams discussed home fire safety with families.
