On Monday, September 23, 2024 starting 5 pm to 7 pm at the Providence Marriot, the Author of Publicization Jonathan Gyurko, and Collective Founder & CEO Victor Capellan will have a discussion on how public and private interests can reinvent public education to benefit all students. They will explore how we can end exclusionary practices in our public schools and share the Collective’s effort to give all Rhode Island students access to a great public education.

Launched in 2024, Rhode Island Education Collective is a new nonprofit working to ensure that every child in our state – regardless of their race, economic situation or where they reside – can go to a great public school. The Collective empowers the people who are part of our schools and neighborhoods, especially those historically marginalized by the public education system, to help create the change our students need. Learn more at rieducationcollective.org.

Currently, the Collective is collaborating with partners and advocates to provide support on several key initiatives that will impact public school students across our state. Projects include expanding access to the RI’s ABLE program, improving student attendance in Central Falls, advocating for MLL and refugee students, and guiding new schools through the planning and approval process.
