Rhode Island Energy conducts routine aerial inspections over state’s electric infrastructure
Rhode Island Energy will be conducting routine low-level helicopter inspections over electric transmission lines across the state. These inspections are essential for identifying potential hazards that could pose risks to the electrical system, potentially leading to power outages.
The aerial inspections will take place from September 16 through September 20, 2024.
The helicopter will be flying at low altitudes directly above power lines throughout Rhode Island.
Residents should be aware that the helicopter will be flying at low altitudes during this period. These inspections are critical to preventing service disruptions and maintaining the integrity of the electric grid.
Rhode Island Energy contracted JBI Helicopters. The helicopter is a blue and yellow Bell 206 helicopter that will be used for these inspections.
The purpose is a routine aerial inspections to ensure system safety and reliability by identifying hazards that could impact the power infrastructure.
