Rhode Island State Police Arrest Former North Providence Town Employee for Harassing North Providence Mayor Lombardi
The Rhode Island State Police and North Providence Police arrested Darren A. Barnes, 54, of 19 Rosner Avenue, North Providence, Rhode Island. He was charged with stalking, vandalism/malicious damage to property, and two counts of conspiracy.
The investigation started in March 2023 after Mayor Charles A. Lombardi reported that someone was harassing him and damaging his car while it was parked at his home. Between February 2023 and April 2024, the Mayor found a lot of roofing nails scattered in his driveway on several different occasions. The Rhode Island State Police Intelligence Unit and North Providence Police Department initiated an investigation and determined that Darren A. Barnes was involved. Mr. Barnes used to work for the North Providence town as a custodian in the police department but was fired by Mayor Lombardi in 2020.
Darren A. Barnes was taken to State Police Headquarters for processing and then taken to the Third Division District Court for arraignment. He was later released on $10,000 personal recognizance
