SEIU Local 580 Endorses Governor Dan McKee
Local 580 represents nearly 900 public servants throughout Rhode Island
PROVIDENCE – Today, Services Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 580 announced its endorsement of Governor Dan McKee for a full term. Local 580 members are public employees who serve low-income families, children, Veterans, and individuals with disabilities. Members share our mission to make Rhode Island a better, more fair state for working families while continuing to improve access to high-quality and affordable services the state provides.
“The hard-working members of Local 580 step up for Rhode Islanders in need, fighting for children, families, and the most vulnerable in our state,” said Governor Dan McKee. “Through much-needed tax relief, investments in education and childcare, and long-term strategies to boost our economy, we are making Rhode Island a better place to live, work, and raise a family. Local 580 members know that I have their backs, and can provide the leadership this state needs – and I am thankful for their support.”
“It’s no secret that Governor McKee inherited a mess at agencies like DCYF and DHS when he took office 18 months ago. But, in that time, he has made it clear that he will give frontline workers a seat at the table to listen to our concerns and make much-needed change. Together, we’re working to address the unprecedented workforce crisis we are facing, and Governor McKee has our full confidence in getting the job done. He is a collaborative and experienced leader, and we’re proud to endorse him for a full term to tackle these problems head-on,” said Matthew Gunnip, President of SEIU Local 580.
