Statement from Lieutenant Governor Matos on National Hispanic Heritage Month 2022
PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Island Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos today issued the following statement on the start of National Hispanic Heritage Month 2022 (September 15-October 15).
“National Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity for Rhode Island to celebrate the vibrant and diverse Spanish-speaking communities that thrive here. As a Dominican immigrant, I am infinitely grateful to Rhode Island for welcoming my family and I am always excited by the opportunity to share our culture with new people.
“Across our state, Hispanic and Latino families are working hard to provide a good life for their family, to help their neighbors, and to build strong communities. Let’s use this month both to celebrate their contributions to our state and to recommit ourselves to breaking down barriers so that every family can succeed right here in Rhode Island.”
