LUNG FORCE Walk Providence Returns to In-Person, Outdoor Event on June 11, 2022 to Support Lung Health and COVID-19 Initiative

Registration Is Now Open for the 2022 LUNG FORCE Walk Providence

Providence, RI – The American Lung Association in Rhode Island will host the eighth annual LUNG FORCE Walk Providence on Saturday, June 11, 2022 beginning at 9:00 am at Roger Williams Park.  The event encourages participants to get active to support lung health, end lung cancer and other lung diseases and fund the COVID-19 Action Initiative. This year, participants are encouraged to attend in person, outside while following all current Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.

Participants joining the LUNG FORCE Walk Providence in person will complete a 2-mile long route around Roger Williams Park starting at the Temple to Music. The event will also include an impactful opening ceremony where LUNG FORCE Heroes will share their stories, a fitness warm-up, and the opportunity to complete a LUNG FORCE Action passport that encourages lung health education!  Money raised at the LUNG FORCE Walk will fund the Lung Association’s annual research, education and advocacy efforts for lung cancer, chronic lung diseases and COVID-19.

Participants can also register to “Walk Your Way,” and participate by walking in their own neighborhoods, tracking their activity online through the new LUNG FORCE app (available for all registered walkers on Android or iPhone).

Registration is now open to both individuals and teams at LUNGFORCE.org/Providence.

WHEN: Saturday June 11, 2022 at 9am.  Registration is available online and at the Check-In tent on event day.

WHERE: The in-person is at Roger Williams Park in Providence

WHO: Anyone can participate! The event is for anyone who wishes to get active, increase awareness and raise money to save lives from lung diseases and COVID-19.

WHY: The Lung Association has long-been the trusted champion for lung health. More than 115 years ago, the organization pioneered the model of using education, advocacy and research to virtually eradicate tuberculosis in the U.S. Using these same principles, the Lung Association works to save lives by improving lung health and ending all lung diseases, including COVID-19.

Funds raised at the LUNG FORCE Walk will support the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung disease and support the Lung Association’s COVID-19 Action Initiative, a $25 million investment to address COVID-19 and protect against future respiratory virus pandemics. The initiative works with public and private entities to increase research collaboration and develop new vaccines, detection tests and treatment therapies

HOW: There is no registration fee for the LUNG FORCE Walk Providence, but donations are encouraged. For more information or to register visit LUNGFORCE.org/Providence.
