Washington Bridge & I-195, East Providence/Providence
Construction-related activities continue on the Washington Bridge Rebuild project, including design, survey, permit applications, and material ordering.
On Monday morning, February 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, motorists can expect one-way traffic for bridge inspections on Gano Street and Waterfront Drive under the Washington Bridge. On Tuesday night, February 24, and Tuesday and Thursday nights, March 3 and 5, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting, maintenance crews are scheduled to sweep the interstate, ramps, and bridges along I-195, in a moving operation from I-95 to the Massachusetts line. Weather permitting, we are also scheduled to close up to two lanes for continued bridge preventative maintenance activities on I-195 West at the Washington Bridge, Sunday-Thursday nights, March 1-5, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The approved in-water demolition has been completed to the required elevations. Next week, demolition crews will be continuing post-completion inspections and demobilization.
