State Leaders and ‘YES on 4’ Coalition Held Kickoff Event to Support 2024 Green Bond
Rhode Island leaders voice their support for investments in clean water, climate resilience, outdoor recreation, farmlands and open space
Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee and RI House Speaker Joseph Shekarchi joined the Yes on 4 Coalition in support of the 2024 Green Bond on Friday, September 13, at 11 a.m. at the Save The Bay Center. Statewide officials, community organizations, and past bond recipients spoke on the importance of making investments in Rhode Island green spaces, outdoor recreational areas, and waterways.
The $53 million bond will appear as Question 4 on the ballot for Rhode Island’s November 5 general election. It will give voters the opportunity to approve investments in forests, farming, open space, outdoor recreation, land revitalization, climate resilience, restoration of the iconic Newport Cliff Walk and infrastructure at the Port of Davisville at Quonset.
The health of our lands, waters, and communities is central to our environment and supports our way of life in Rhode Island. The value of Rhode Island’s network of green spaces, outdoor recreational areas, ports and waterways goes beyond beautiful places and recreational opportunities for public enjoyment. This network is important to the state’s economy and ability to attract people and businesses. They are central to our very way of life as Rhode Islanders, and deserves our support on November 5.
The Yes on 4 Coalition partners include: Save The Bay, Clean Water Action, RI Land Trust Council, Audubon Society of RI, The Nature Conservancy, RI Ports Coalition, Climate Action RI, Climate Jobs RI, RI Environmental Education Association, RI Food Policy Council, and others.
