Don’t Miss RI POPS in Slater Park this Weekend
Mayor Don Grebien, Pawtucket Art Fest and Pawtucket Teacher’s Alliance invite the public to a free performance of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra’s “Summer Pops in the Park” at Slater Park. The event will start at 6:30 pm, Saturday, September 7, 2024. The event will be using the planned rain date of Sunday, September 8th beginning at 6:30 pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or picnic blanket for an evening of fun under the stars.
This year’s Pops concert is a tribute to Rhode Island. Titled “Our State: A RI Celebration,” concert-goers can expect to hear selections by famous composers who grew up in Rhode Island like Peter Boyer, Bill Conti and George M Cohan, music from Seth MacFarlane’s Rhode Island inspired Family Guy series, and traditional summer pops fare from John Williams and others.
Conducted by Troy Quinn, the 66-piece orchestra will play a 90-minute set.
