Governor McKee Issues Statement on the Passing of Former Senator Stephen Alves

PROVIDENCE, RI – Governor Dan McKee issued the following statement on the passing of former Rhode Island Senator Stephen D. Alves:

“Senator Alves was a tireless champion for Rhode Islanders during his time in office. He was a personal friend, and my heart is heavy with this news.

“Susan and I are praying for his family, friends, and colleagues throughout Rhode Island and here at the State House.”

Former Senator Alves, a Democrat from West Warwick, served as the chair of the Senate Finance Committee. Governor McKee has directed state flags to be lowered in his honor and encourages all Rhode Islanders to do the same.
