House Foreign Affairs Vice Ranking Member Amo Leads 29 Members in Demanding End to Trump’s Illegal, Costly, War of Choice in Iran
Washington, DC – TODAY, House Foreign Affairs Vice Ranking Member Gabe Amo (D-RI) led 29 Members in introducing a resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives to stop President Donald Trump’s illegal war of choice with Iran, which is driving up costs and making Americans less safe.
If Speaker Johnson does not immediately bring this resolution to the House Floor for a vote, Ranking Member Amo will force a vote on this resolution to hold Trump accountable.
“Donald Trump’s unnecessary, illegal war with Iran is driving up costs at home and endangering American troops abroad,” said Vice Ranking Member Gabe Amo (D-RI). “Our Constitution is clear: only Congress has the power to declare war, and I refuse to cede our authority to Trump and his cronies. This resolution reasserts that no one man has the power to drag us into a forever war. Every Member of Congress needs to step up and join us to end the war, stop the chaos, and take real steps to lower costs for the American people.”
The resolution is co-sponsored by Representatives Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01), Shontel Brown (OH-11), Steve Cohen (TN-09), Joe Courtney (CT-02), Jasmine Crockett (TX-30), Debbie Dingell (MI-06), Dan Goldman (NY-10), Maggie Goodlander (NH-02), Al Green (TX-09), Glenn Ivey (MD-04), Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37), William Keating (MA-09), Stephen Lynch (MA-08), Seth Magaziner (RI-02), Analilia Mejia (NJ-11), Kweisi Mfume (MD-07), Gwen Moore (WI-04), Jerry Nadler (NY-12), Chellie Pingree (ME-01), Mike Quigley (IL-05), Jamie Raskin (MD-08), Andrea Salinas (OR-06), Linda Sanchez (CA-38), Bradley Schneider (IL-10), Bobby Scott (VA-03), Lateefah Simon (CA-12), Greg Stanton (AZ-04), Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12), and Nikema Williams (GA-05).
