Langevin Praises Historic Nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court

Warwick, R.I. — Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI), today released the following statement after President Biden announced the nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the United States Supreme Court:

“I applaud President Biden’s decision to nominate Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the United States Supreme Court. A former clerk for Justice Breyer, Judge Jackson has spent her career serving the American people, including as a federal district court judge and on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Judge Jackson is exceptionally qualified to sit on the Supreme Court, and I have no doubt she will uphold and defend the Constitution.

I believe that the Supreme Court should reflect the full diversity of America, which is why I’m thrilled that President Biden has chosen such a brilliant jurist to be the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court.

I strongly urge my Senate colleagues on both sides of the aisle to offer Judge Jackson a fair and swift confirmation process. I hope they will join me in supporting Judge Jackson’s historic nomination.”
