Congratulations to Jackson Chiappetta and Korryn Cartwright, Pawtucket residents and 2024 state champion swimmers. The City is immensely proud to be the home of numerous elite athletes like them.

Jackson Chiappetta, who took third place in the 100-yard backstroke and fourth in the butterfly as a rookie in last season’s meet, became the third BVP swimmer, behind his sister and 2022 graduate Bryan Zapata, to win a state title in BVP’s brief history by taking a close battle for first place with North Kingstown junior Zachary Proulx, who placed second, 0.24 of a second behind him.

Cartwright, meanwhile, also helped her co-op team produce its best finish in its program’s five-year history. After cracking the top 10 in the team standings the past two years, PCD/SRA finished third out of 25 teams with 213 points, trailing only two D-I teams, Barrington, which won its 10th straight state title with 331.5, and North Kingstown, which placed second with 231.

Cartwright also took fourth place in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.77 seconds and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.03, and in both races, she was a fraction of a second shy of the winning times.
