An investigation conducted by Providence Police, with assistance from Johnston Police, Carlos Rodriguez, age 46 of Providence, was apprehended earlier today by U.S. Marshals in Kissimmee, FL. Rodriguez was wanted in connection to a Felony Assault/Shooting that occurred on Vandewater Street in Providence on November 27, 2023.  Shortly after the shooting occurred, a vehicle pursuit ensued involving Johnston Police Officers. The pursuit concluded on Parnell Street in Providence where Rodriguez fired several gunshots towards Johnston Police Officers before fleeing from the vehicle on foot.  Rodriguez was wanted by police for three counts of Felony Assault as well as numerous firearm related charges stemming from this incident.  Providence Police previously apprehended the co-conspirator involved in this incident, Ernesto Vargas, age 44 of Providence. Vargas was also charged with three counts of Felony Assault.
