RIDOT’s Weekly Traffic Forecast
The following road and lane closure notices are effective for the week of August 8-14, 2026. All schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change. Visit RIDOT’s Travel Advisories website for a full listing of statewide lane closures.
Washington Bridge & I-195, East Providence/Providence
East Providence: I-195 East, from the Washington Bridge to Exit 2C, right lane closed for brush cutting, Thurs. night, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.
East Providence: I-195 East, from Exit 2C to the Mass. line, right lane closed for utility structure adjustments, Thurs. night, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.
Providence: I-195 East over the Washington Bridge, right lane closed for bridge preventative maintenance, Thurs. night, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.
Providence: I-195 West on the ramp to I-95 South, left lane closed for bridge work, Thurs. night, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.
Temporary Exit/Ramp Closures
Warwick: I-295 North Exit 1B will be temporarily closed for brush cutting, Tues. night, 9 p.m. – 3 a.m. Follow signed detour.
Weekday
Warwick: Motorists can expect alternating lane closures in the following locations for multiple bridge inspections, Tues. – Thurs., 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.: I-295 North over I-95; I-295 North and South at Exit 1B (Bald Hill Rd., I-295 North and South over the Pawtuxet River; I-295 North and South at West Natick Rd.
Continuing
Providence: All travel lanes are shifted to the right on I-95 North, between the Rte. 10/Elmwood Ave. off-ramp (Exit 33) and the Thurbers Ave. off-ramp (Exit 35), for replacement of the Broad and Eddy St. Bridges in Providence through 2027. Learn more.
Providence: I-95 at Eddy Street, all lanes are narrowed and shifted to the left on I-95 North and South at this overpass, located near the Thurbers Ave. (Exit 35) interchange for bridge work until further notice.
Warwick: The on-ramp from Jefferson Blvd. to I-95 South in Warwick is closed for bridge construction through summer 2027. During the closure, all traffic on Jefferson Blvd. heading to I-95 South should use the on-ramp to the Airport Connector outbound, located about ½ mile south of the intersection of Jefferson Blvd., Kilvert St., and Coronado Rd.
