39 Cities and Towns. One Rhode Island. He Won’t Stop Until It’s Over.
WARWICK, RI — On Tuesday, September 8, Aaron Guckian, the endorsed Republican candidate for Governor of Rhode Island, will embark on a final statewide push through all 39 cities and towns ahead of the Republican primary on Wednesday, September 9.
Guckian will start early Tuesday morning and says he will not stop until all 39 communities have been reached.
“Thirty nine cities and towns. One Rhode Island. I’m not stopping until it’s over,” Guckian said. “We’re going everywhere, from our biggest cities to our smallest towns, because every Rhode Islander and every community matters.”
Dubbed “The Guck Stops Here Tour,” the statewide swing will serve as Guckian’s closing argument to Republican and unaffiliated voters: Rhode Island cannot tax its way out of its problems.
Guckian is campaigning on his Rhode Island Works Smarter initiative, centered on finding savings from the ground up. The plan includes a 24/7/365 anonymous idea portal where frontline state employees can identify waste, inefficiencies and better ways to deliver government services.
“Before politicians ask taxpayers for another dollar, government needs to prove it is spending the dollars it already has wisely,” Guckian said. “Find the waste. Fix it. Reward workers. Lower taxes and fees.”
Guckian previously served in the administration of Governor Donald Carcieri and was the Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor in 2022. The 6-foot-7 former college basketball player has made “Think BIG” and “A Giant Voice for Common Sense” themes of his campaign.
“This is the Ocean State, but too many families feel like they are treading water,” Guckian said. “On September 9, we have an opportunity to change direction.”
