TOMORROW: Red Cross Recovery Center Opening for Residents Impacted by Recent Flooding

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (January 19, 2024) – The American Red Cross in Rhode Island will host a Recovery Center for residents impacted by recent flooding. Red Cross recovery caseworkers will be available to provide assistance to eligible residents, and they will be joined by partners from FEMA, St. Vincent de Paul and other agencies.

Individuals unable to visit the recovery center are encouraged to schedule an appointment with the Red Cross by calling 401-831-7700 and select option 1. This phone number is available 24 hours a day.

RED CROSS IMPACT In the aftermath of severe weather that caused several rivers and creeks to overflow their banks and flood numerous towns across Rhode Island, Red Cross volunteers continue to bring comfort and support to their neighbors.

Since January 9, the Red Cross opened two temporary shelters in Providence and Kent Counties, providing community members with a place to seek refuge. Throughout flood-impacted communities, more than 2,100 meals and snacks have been provided and more than 260 emergency relief items, including clean-up kits and other supplies, have been distributed to people in need. To date, these relief operations have helped more than 255 affected households and have been supported by more than 70 trained Red Cross disaster workers.
