Governor McKee To Join CCRI Interim President Costigan for Adult Learner Roundtable on Fresh Start Scholarship
WARWICK, RI – Governor Dan McKee joined CCRI Interim President Dr. Rosemary A. Costigan for a roundtable discussion with CCRI adult students — who returned to college through the Fresh Start Scholarship — to learn how this program is allowing hundreds of adult Rhode Islanders to return to CCRI to finish their degrees.
The Fresh Start Scholarship was enacted last year as a budget initiative, funded at $5 million dollars over two academic years, and funds up to one year for free to Rhode Island residents who previously attended CCRI and have not yet earned an associate degree or higher.
Launched in September 2023, more than 1,400 Rhode Islanders have returned to CCRI through the Fresh Start Scholarship program.
During the roundtable discussion, Governor McKee will hear from students who would not be enrolled if not for the Fresh Start Scholarship.
