Providence, RI: The Rhode Island State Association of Firefighters Executive Board unanimously endorsed Stefan Pryor, for Treasurer for the State of Rhode Island.

 

“Secretary Pryor has proven himself as a leader as the Commerce Secretary leading economic development in our state and helping to open business back up throughout the pandemic, getting people back to work,” says Joseph Andriole, President of the Rhode Island State Association of Fire Figthers. “In addition, his work after 9/11 in New York City assisting public safety and the community at large shows his commitment to public service. This leadership will serve him well as the fiduciary for the state pension system.”

 

“I’m honored to receive the support of the Rhode Island State Association of Fire Fighters,” said Stefan Pryor, Democratic Candidate for Rhode Island General Treasurer. “I am grateful for the service of our State’s Fire Fighters and take the responsibility of managing their pension funds very seriously. I’m grateful to have their confidence. As Treasurer, I will be laser focused on managing the State’s finances responsibly and using the tools of the Treasurer’s office to keep building a healthier, more inclusive economy.

 

Pryor served as Rhode Island’s Commerce Secretary for seven and half years. Before that, Pryor was the President of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, the public agency charged with coordinating the rebuilding of Lower Manhattan after September 11th. He also served as Deputy Mayor for Economic Development in Newark, NJ, and as Connecticut’s Education Commissioner.
