Sandra Cano Elaborates on Statement

PAWTUCKET, RI – Elaborating on an earlier statement, Sandra Cano said, “At the candidate forum on August 17, every candidate was asked who they would support if they were not in the race. Mr. Carlson was one of the candidates whose answer was me. I did not seek his support, but I appreciate his kind words about my candidacy.

“The news that has been reported thus far is concerning. I take neither the accusations nor the implications lightly. It is vital that we hold those who abuse their power to account. At the same time, we must be cautious about addressing news as it breaks and continues to be investigated. It is irresponsible to try and score points on a developing story before the full picture becomes clear.

“For the same reason, I have also not commented on the Lieutenant Governor’s signature controversy: there is an ongoing investigation and we do not have enough information yet. No one should jump to conclusions and attack anyone without being fully grounded in the facts.

“Congressional District One residents deserve a leader they can trust to stay focused on the issues that matter to Rhode Islanders.”
